Installing LED outdoor wall lights requires taking into account electrical safety, waterproof and dustproof, and structural stability. Understanding the installation steps and precautions of LED outdoor wall lights can ensure long-term and reliable use of outdoor wall lights.
1. Preparation before installation

(2). Safety Verification
Power-off Operation: Turn off the corresponding circuit in the distribution box and use a multimeter to verify that there is no power (AC 220V).
Waterproof Assessment: Avoid direct exposure to rain (such as under eaves) when installing, or choose IP66/IP67-rated lighting.
2. Installation steps
(1). Positioning and drilling
Marking position: Use a pencil to mark the installation holes on the wall (refer to the hole spacing of the lamp base). Use a level to ensure that the lamp does not tilt after installation.
Drilling and fixing: Use an electric drill (with a 6mm drill bit) to drill holes with a depth ≥ the length of the expansion bolt. Insert the expansion bolt and tighten it with a wrench (torque is about 5N·m).
(2). Wiring processing
Cable wiring: Lead out a three-core cable (live wire L, neutral wire N, ground wire PE) from the waterproof junction box. If wiring through the wall, use a PVC pipe to protect and seal the pipe opening.
Wiring method: Peel off the cable sheath to expose about 10mm of copper wire. Connect according to the lamp terminal markings: L (live wire, brown) → live power line N (neutral wire, blue) → neutral power line PE (ground wire, yellow-green) → ground terminal (if there is no ground wire, separate grounding is required) Use waterproof wiring caps or heat shrink tubing after welding for insulation.
(3). Fix the lamp
Base installation: Align the lamp base with the expansion bolts and fix it with stainless steel screws. Check whether it is firm (please pull it lightly with your hands to ensure it does not shake). Sealing treatment: Apply silicone sealant (waterproof) to the contact between the base and the wall. Ensure that the cable entrance is tightened with a rubber waterproof ring.
(4). Power-on test
Preliminary inspection: Confirm that all screws are tightened and no wire ends are exposed. Trial operation: Turn on the power and test whether the switch control is normal. Observe whether the lamp flickers or heats abnormally (common problems with inferior drivers).
3. Key points
(1). Waterproof and lightning protection: Fill the gaps in screw holes, wiring ports, etc. with glue. It is recommended to install a surge protector (SPD) in high-rise buildings.
(2) Electrical safety: 2.5mm² cable is required for power > 50W (to avoid overload). Metal-shell lamps must be grounded to prevent leakage risks.
(3) Maintenance recommendations: Clean the lampshade dust every six months and check for cracks in the sealant. Choose low-temperature resistant lamps (-30℃~+50℃ operating range) in extremely cold areas.
